The Alamo–San Antonio, TX
Today’s destination is The Alamo.
This will be an easy hop from our evening at Palmetto State Park.
A nice stop just a few miles off I-10 is a spacious park with 18 W/E hookups and hiking trails that are well documented and maintained. (Indiana take notice!)
As is our custom we took our morning walk before heading out. The short Palmetto Trail is a nature trail loop with good signs to identify the plants.
The longer River loop drops down to the river than back up to the campground.
The Alamo is pretty much in downtown San Antonio, RV parking is not available. We found a spot off East Alamo in a residential section. It was a short distance to the River Walk and then a mile along the river to The Alamo … perfect.
We exit the River walk at the Hyatt, with the Alamo directly across the street a block away. Pictures are not permitted within the buildings, but there is a large campus and a demonstration on making balls out of the recovered Mexican bullets. The museum, exhibits documentary movie are available in the old barracks.
Go west young Rufus, go west …
