Savannah GA
The large lot by the Visitors Center in Savannah offers 24 hour parking for $12. A nice option if no hookups are needed for the night. In addition to being a reasonably priced overnight, there may be free WiFi from SCAD classes next door. The Old Town Trolley and other tours leave from here, making this a great base camp.
However, rather than taking one of the tours, we picked up the tour map and started walking. Savannah is a city that was designed from conception to be walked. Bull Street is interrupted continuously with the churches and squares that make the city unique.
The city is home to history that includes both war and peace.
At the north end of the city River Street area has retained much of the original feel. Here the cotton boats arrived with cobble stones as ballast, as the cotton was loaded the ballast was removed and used to pave the streets.
Budget your time in Savannah, it’s easy to lose track and not have enough time to spend the rest of the day at Wormsloe Plantation.
Or exploring the grounds of the Bonaventure
I do not usually plug a campsite. We take what is available when it’s time to stop and this night it was a Good Sam stop at Cathead Creek. Massive spaces with Full Hookups – that is not just the customary Water/Electric/Sewer but also Cable/WiFi/Cell. The 802.11n WiFi and cable performed awesome!
Florida next ….
