Borrego Springs–upcoming Film Festival

Borrego Springs holds their annual Film Festival in January each year.  This year it will feature Last Days in the Desert with Ewan McGregor, along with some 60 other films.

“Last Days in the Desert” will be of interest to those who have camped at Clark Dry Lake or have visited Font’s Point.  It was filmed entirely on location in the Anza Borrego Badlands, with the majority of the filming at Font’s Point.  The film will be shown Monday January 16th at the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center at no charge and open to the public.

We had a chance to witness some of the filming and were anxious to view the finished product, which is available from Amazon or from the local San Diego Library (with a wait list).

The film uses some clever use of fog and sand dunes to hide the city, airport, orchards and golf courses that may be in the background.  I mentioned the new signage at Font’s Point in my Borrego Days post.  Here’s some pictures I took of the filming with the signs missing.
