McEuen Park, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

Crossing from Spokane WA into Idaho along I-90 is easy enough, but lots of traffic along this route.  Quite a change from the 2-lane backroads.

While looking for a break and a place to stretch the legs a couple years ago we discovered McEuen Park.  A total gem that the city of Coeur d’Alene offers it’s residents and guests.

The Splash Park was complete on our last visit but not operating.  This trip looked like so much fun!

Last time here we had bicycles and followed the bike path until it was time to return.  This time we had shoes and followed the Main Trail over Tubbs Hill for its 2 mile distance.  The trail begins at the water near the restrooms and offers many access points for swimming holes.

There’s a couple large play areas for the kids.  Although somewhat similar equipment they have totally different themes.  Chose an old fort or a modern playground … or both!

Playful sculptures, free concerts, worlds longest floating boardwalk and my next RV are all just a stroll along the waterfront.

Spent the night at Beauty Creek in a FS campground.  Just what was needed for an overnight stop, a level campsite and options for a short hike in the morning to Beauty Creek Overlook.

Yellowstone via Hamilton – very little cell service on this section.
